Must-Have Models @ Pulse Management
Interviewing Stacey Eastman, the President of Pulse Management, is like watching a Sum 41 video. Fast, loud and totally sick. Yes he runs a successful management company; yes he’s married and has children. But at heart he’s a surfer and snowboarder stoked about life.

For over a decade, Eastman has built Pulse into one of the finest agencies in the Western United States. Strategically placed offices are in San Diego, Salt Lake City, Phoenix, Portland, Austin and Boise. From the ocean to mountains to the desert, Pulse has it covered.

As a self-confessed adrenaline junkie, Eastman named his business after a phrase one would expect from a guy who can be found hang gliding on any given day: Check Your Pulse. That, incidentally, is also the company’s aptly titled newsletter available on the agency website.

So is running a modeling agency as much of a rush? Definitely, says Eastman. “Stellar girls who can kick it down the top runways and garner the top fashion editorials” are indeed a fix. “Seeing the rough and making a star” excites Eastman.

Recent results are outstanding. At the beginning of the Spring 2006 show season, two Pulse girls—Hye Park and Autumn Hyles—nailed spots on Women’s Wear Daily’s “13 New Faces To Watch On The Runway.” Eastman calls that “a feat” and few would disagree. Hye Park (first row, left), born in South Korea then moving to Utah, ripped the catwalks of Dolce & Gabbana, Dior, Balenciaga, Marc Jacobs and dozens more. That outdoes her by-any-standard far from standard impressive Fall 2005 debut. Strong campaigns of course followed.

Autumn Hyles (first row, center), a 16-year old from San Diego, is skyrocketing as well. Her ubiquitous editorials and demand on designers’ lists puts this girl on the international most wanted poster. Also from the same town is Mia Maguire (first row, right). At 13 years of age, Mia signed with Pulse partner Elite Management and is working non-stop in Hong Kong, NYC and Italy. Magazines and shows are overflowing her planner.

Oregonian Colleen Monahan was the darling of last month’s L.A. Fashion Week. Now she’s in NYC with MC2 and we’re not surprised to hear she’s up for a couple of campaigns by a certain Italian designer. Two more girls from Utah are doing exceptionally well also: Karen Kay and Martie Allred. Watch out for them.

Things are looking great on the men’s side too with Daniel Kirkpatrick (second row, left) leading the charge. Daniel is an Arizona native but good luck finding him there. He’s perpetually getting top gigs and is signed with DNA in NYC. One look at any of his photographs is all it takes to know he’s the real deal.

Dustin Olander (second row, center) is from Orange County (no one calls it The O.C.) and shot an awesome editorial with Steven Klein and Mr. David Bowie himself in a gritty Heart’s Filthy Lesson-style. Remember the name Rommel too. No, not the one that duked it out against Patton, but Curtis Rommel (second row, right) who’s another fabulous find from Utah (Is there something in the water there?). Bananas in Paris and Why Not in Milan snatched him up. See his runway and print work and you’ll nod your head.

Eastman is not kidding when he says Pulse is “not allow[ed] to sleep until [his models’] potential has become world renowned.” Eastman and his staff nurture their models’ best interests and with hard work they know what they can make happen. The long-standing motto at Pulse is “quality over quantity.” Attention is focused on those that can make it and the track record speaks for itself.

With Stacey Eastman and his team scouting out West leaving “no stone unturned,” we’ll be frequently checking with our friends at Pulse for the latest.
